Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates the International Day of Cities

The United Nations chooses a general theme for World Cities Day and a different sub-theme each year

As the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates the International Day of Cities, to enhance cooperation between countries in facing the challenges of urbanization in cities and to create awareness of the successes and challenges of urban sustainability.

A resolution of the United Nations General Assembly designated World Cities Day on December 27, 2013, which designated October 31 to promote and inspire action on the concept of sustainable urbanization. The first celebration of this day was in Shanghai, China, in 2014.

The Kingdom, through Saudi Vision 2030, keeps pace with the international community’s desire to spread urbanization around the world, and push cooperation forward to exploit opportunities, address urban challenges and contribute to urban development.
